Last night, I added a second coat of fiberglass to the Sparkly Gundam chest. In a way, this is really reminding me of working with paper mache or plaster strips. I didn’t glue down the fiberglass fabric this time, and used a much finer cloth, almost like gause. I dabbed a little of the coating material down where I wanted the cloth, placed the piece, then coated it with the coating material until it was completely soaked in and solidly in place. Now to let it dry for a day, and see how strong (and smooth) it is. I’m hoping that this can show whether or not I can just use the finer grade cloth for smoothness, rather than sanding down the outside surface.
