I used 1/2″ wide cotton strap from Jo-Ann’s. It feels a lot like katana wrap does, and it’s a whole lot cheaper – it’s sold near the ribbon section at my store.
It’s not really hard to get it even, though. For two of those hilts, I just did a simple spiral wrap, took about 2 minutes each. For the full sword, I decided to get fancy and did a dual woven spiral.. not that you can tell from any sort of difference, but up close it looks cool.
