One of the greatest non-living characters in any game – the Companion Cube, from Portal. I thought a plush/pillow version of the Cube would be a fun and quick project, so here’s step one, the basic foam block form:
FoamCube.jpgThe core cube is made of 2″ thick foam, cut to 12″ sides. To put it together, I have two 2″x12″x12″ squares (top and bottom), two 2″x8″x12″ (sides), and two 2″x8″x8″ squares (front and back). The interior has another 2″x8″x8″ block going down the center to help keep the cube from collapsing, and is stuffed with chipped foam on either side of that center block.

The corners are made of 1″ thick foam, and I will be adding additional foam for the center circle/heart section made from 1/2″ thick foam.

In the end, I plan on covering it with arctic fleece fabric, to make it soft and cuddly. Because I can.
