This morning, I worked on the main face covers for the cube. First, I cut dark gray fleece squares out, then cut out a 5″ circle from the center of each. I then sewed 1/2″ hot pink ribbon in the 4 main directions around the circle, and completed each by adding the light gray circle of fleece to the center, which will be filled with a circle of 1/2″ foam before attaching the whole thing to the main cube.
I finished all the ribbon so far, and did 3 of the circles, only to realize that I put one circle on backwards. I’ll see if I can rip the seam and try again, but I may have to redo this face. I’ll attempt to finish the rest of the faces tonight, and hopefully start attaching the corners tomorrow.
UPDATE – This evening, I was able to complete all the cube faces, stitch them together, put on the center circles of foam that will show off the raised hearts, and put the cube in its new skin.
Now comes the hand stitching, to close the cube cover, then attach the corners. I also still need to set up the hearts for attachment, as well as the mid-edge parts (all 12 of them…).
